Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Insurance Questions

  1. HOW DO I GET INSURANCE REIMBURSEMENT? If the resident has supplemental dental insurance coverage, we will give the responsible party an itemized statement of services that will have the ADA codes and provider information needed for insurance benefit reimbursement. Please check to see if mobile dental hygiene services are covered under your benefit plan.
  2. DO YOU ACCEPT MEDICARE OR MEDICAID PLANS? Unfortunately, most Medicare plans do not cover dental cleanings and we are not part of the Medicaid federal program, or an HMO. Although Marian Mobile Dental Services are pay-for-service, we know that many seniors are on a fixed income, so we have made our fees reasonable to make it easier for everyone to receive the care they need.

Service Needs Questions

  1. CAN MARIAN MOBILE DENTAL SERVICES DO HOUSE CALLS FOR THE HOMEBOUND? Georgia Law limits the settings where dental hygienists can provide services under general supervision. Due to these legal parameters we cannot visit clients in their independent homes for full service cleanings. We can offer an in-home oral assessment and plaque removal service on a case by case bases.
  2. CAN MARIAN MOBILE DENTAL SERVICES PROVIDE DENTAL CLEANINGS FOR PEOPLE OTHER THAN SENIORS? Yes, we are a company focused on meeting the needs of our senior population but we can extend our services to settings identified listed by the Board of Dentistry for general supervision of dental hygienists. Special permission could be requested for the following: hospitals; nursing homes; long-term care facilities; rural health clinics; federally qualified health centers; hospices; family violence shelters, as defined by O.C.G.A. 19-13-20; and free health clinics, as defined O.C.G.A 51-1-29.4.
  3. WHAT IF THE RESIDENT HAS DENTURES? Patients with dentures need professional care too. There are several conditions that can be of concern, so it is very important to clean and check the health of the tissues frequently and remove any calculus or plaque on the dentures or partial dentures. Removing this stain and debris on dentures can be difficult, but our professional sonic cleaners can make a huge difference. Our service fees are reduced for full denture patients. We do offer adjusted pricing for people missing more than half of their teeth (notes- crowns and implants still count as present teeth since they require hygiene services).
  4. WHAT IF I WANT TO BE AT THE APPOINTMENT? We love educating families, caregivers and nursing staff on the best way to keep your loved one's mouth healthy, including which products to use. The patient portal will allow you to participate in coordinating the service day. Please send a message through the patient portal 7 days prior to the scheduled service day so the registered hygienist can communicate and approximate start time. Earlier service times would work best if you have time constraints. We work down the list of scheduled clients remaining flexible to the individual needs and challenges of the day for each client. We do not operate on the same appointment block schedule model that is commonly observed in private dental practices.
  5. ARE DENTAL SUPPLIES INCLUDED? Our fee does include several of the initial oral hygiene supplies needed to help maintain oral health. We are always happy to recommend products for each resident's specific dental hygiene needs for continuing care. Marian Mobile Dental Services also provides free in-service education and training for nursing staff, caretakers and family members at facilities where we see patients. Our hands-on training fosters confidence when providing daily care for residents.
  6. HOW DO YOU CLEAN YOUR INSTRUMENTS? Marian Mobile Dental uses the sterilization centers at our supervising dentist practices across North Georgia. We use steam autoclaves to sterilize our instruments between patients. Safety and cleanliness an important part of our business model. We use a double pouch indicator system and contract with a third party for biological monitoring of the sterilization equipment.
